I've only played 5 games with 3 other friends so far, and I've noticed a pattern:
If you're in first place the majority of the game, you'll end up in 3rd or last. If you're 3rd or last, you end up winning.
Some of the rolls and Star resets look rigged. Ie perfectly hitting a space against odds, or the star reseting in front of a certain character.
The near-end game winner prediction also has been 3rd or last place. And after the prediction is made, things like the above start happening for this particular person.
Makes sense, to keep everyone into the game, but it really sucks for everyone when there strategies go to sh*t because the game is rigged.
