The original Paper Mario released in 2000/2001 to warm reception. The flat version of Mario puts a mushroomy and delightful twist on the RPG genre with action buttons, badges for powerups, and a full cast of partners to journey along with Mario. Goombas become friendly, Koopas actually live in a delightful village, and Boos live their entire existence trying to scare people as you get a different look at the Mushroom Kingdom. The game, in a twenty year retrospect, feels like a celebration of Mario, akin to Mario Part 4. Still, however, Bowser kidnapped Peach and you need to rescue the (not so helpless) Princess Peach. You can join in the original Paper Mario fun on the Nintendo 64, the iQue Player, or the Wii or Wii U virtual console.
Challenges
GameClub is all about completing challenges to obtain points and the glory of r/Nintendo! As a community dive into classic games from the NES or switch it up with the new era Nintendo Switch! All the while exploring these titles in inventive ways, climb the leaderboard to take the spot of GameClub champion on r/Nintendo!
To complete a challenge simply take a screen shot for proof on Miiverse, Imgur, or social media. Additionally take a picture with your phone or camera with your Reddit user name in the picture.
You're not limited to just one challenge. Just comment under this post to submit your challenge entry. Feel free to post your challenges even if you plan to edit them with more. We'll go through and collect them by February 7 - leaderboard scores will be updated accordingly.
1. Shred Paper Bowser Beat Paper Bowser and Paper Mario for 3 points!
2. Super Printer Mario Paper Mario is a fairly notorious speed running game. Although the World Record is under two hours, it takes some practice to get there. Therefore, your challenge is to beat Paper Mario in under eight hours! All glitches allowed, any percentage! 5 Points!
3. Tacye T's Cook Book Tacye T really wants to prove Toads can be excellent cooks. There are fifty different recipes to be cooked, so this will be a tiered challenge:
10 recipes: 1 point
20 recipes: 2 points
30 recipes: 3 points
40 recipes: 4 points
50 recipes: 5 points
4. Star Piece Collection Find Star Pieces for Merlow; there are 160 total pieces, so this will be a tiered challenge:
40 pieces: 2 points
80 pieces: 4 points
120 pieces: 6 points
160 pieces: 8 points
5. This game can be crashed Stryder7x is a YouTuber who has a knack for crashing Paper Mario 64 in every single way possible, including standing still. Koopers is a particularly broken character, so crash the game with Koopers (see video) for 2 points! (There is no way to "prove" this, so I am going with the honor system here).
