Nintendo games are like the Shakespearean literature of video games

They were the pioneers. They dreamed up the first concepts of game design, just like Shakespeare did with drama, and others followed and built upon foundations laid out by them, just as modern films did and still do with Shakespeare.

Despite not being a huge fan of Nintendo's cartoonish formats and not really being able experiencing almost all of its prominent titles when they first came out, I can see the special position nintendo games hold in the spheres of the art of game design.
