The biggest fear I've had while contemplating this film is how on earth are they going to handle the dialogue for the brothers? I mean, having to listen to their voices speak full on sentences for ~90 minutes would get really annoying, and they can't exactly do what the games do and have the main characters speak gibberish the entire time...
But that's the thing, they've done that once already... in one of their most infamous films: Minions. (Now, I know there's a pretty big stigma surrounding that movie and the franchise it's a part of but try to ignore that for a moment.)
Believe it or not, from what I recall the dialogue doesn't actually get annoying at all during the movie. I think this is because it's mostly reactionary and is blended well with characters who actually speak properly.
My point being, Illumination is very capable of pulling that type of thing off. If they integrate this properly in the Mario Movie, then that aspect of the film might actually be okay. Especially if they have them speak actual Italian instead of that Faux-Italian from the RPG's. (To clarify, I am in no way saying that the Brothers should act like Minions [oh my god, no], I simply mean that they could use the same formula of speech.)
I haven't been able to talk to anyone directly about this sort of thing because nobody I know cares, so I'd like to know if any of you have thoughts on this?
