After BOTW sequel, which will be in the same cel-shading art style as BOTW. I was thinking of what direction Legend of Zelda will move next in terms of environment and mechanics. Then I realized Twilight Princess was the closest any of the Zelda games been to realistically illustrated game. And after playing Witcher, Souls, FF, and a bunch of other Sony games, I think an open world Zelda game set in a similar environment would be refreshing. Having Link take side-quests, hunt mini-bosses, upgrading stats would further add depth to the game.
In terms of gameplay mechanics, Zelda games have always focused on a new item in addition to the Master Sword. So I was thinking maybe having Link be able to manipulate time (I know this was already done in Ocarina of Time) but maybe rather than having the focus be on using time to travel between the future and past, have Link control time on a smaller scale like how we use a TV remote (lol) but the buttons are translated to in-game powers. Like freezing enemies by Pausing them, creating a clone by Recording himself, becoming stealth by turning the Volume down, getting a second chance if the player makes a mistake using the Rewind button, or having super speed by Fast Foward yourself. (so similar how its used in Blinx or Prince of Persia). Let me know your ideas for new mechanics, environments, and story for a Zelda game.
