Buy nintendo 64 yes or no?

So I'd really like to get into the Nintendo 64 but it isn't a very cheap console for me to just buy on instinct. I just want to play the hits really and get some couch multiplayer out of it in an authentic way of playing. Is it worth jumping the gun on buying the original hardware or wait for a potential nintendo 64 mini coming this year. I know it's still emulation but the original controllers/mock hardware add to the experience to me personally (have nes and snes mini). Also with the n64s 25th anniversary coming up this gives me hope that this could happen this year, and nintendo and Microsoft's good relations make it even more likely as they would stand a better chance of getting rare licensing.

I dont have a lot of money to spare so buying the original hardware would be a big investment for me, and it would take me a very long time to get the couple dozen games I'm after, most of which I'm sure nintendo would put on an n64 mini if it were to happen.

So my questions are: Do you guys think there is a good enough chance of the n64 mini releasing any time soon for me hold out on buying the hardware or not? Thanks for reading
